I tried setting the alarm using the code and away key not knowing that the away key sets it on it's own. When I noticed none of this worked I pressed the * again to exit thinking nothing worked. I took for granted that 2 would be up 6 would be right 0 would be down etc. At this point I entered 01 and proceeded to specify a new code until it talked about using arrow keys. I only say it was the master because pressing *5 and entering the code allowed the ready light to flash according to the manual. Talking with them, I don't see the code they gave me as being the master code or even the installer code for that matter as their understanding of alarms is next to nothing. I should mention that the previous owner never had the system monitored either, probably because the company was out of business. Thank you for the info but I really don't understand it. Right now I'm using just the user code but have no access to changing any of the functions programmed before I screwed up the master.Īny help would be greatly appreciated at this point. What I need to know is if there is someway to reset a master code using this user code? All the alarm companies around me want to replace the whole system because it is 7 years old and tell me this is all that can be done. With a little searching someone suggested trying the street address as a code and this works. I also had to cut power to the alarm and disable the battery backup to silence it until I figured out what I did. I found this out by not being able to disarm the system upon the next use using the code I had. Trying to exit at this point I ended up changing what was the master code to something that I have no way of remembering the key strokes of trying to exit the setup. I proceeded to change the code so previous holders of the code couldn't use it and following the manual got screwed up with the arrow keys that do not exist. The previous owners provided a manual for the GE Networx NX-1500E keypad for the Caddx Control NX8 board. Bought a house and was given a code for the alarm system. A google search brought up a question you answered back in 2007 about a master code screwed up by an incorrect manual.
